To empower girl students of rural areas of Assam. ‘Governor’s Girls Volleyball Mission’ launched

way2barak, Sept.18: To empower the girl students of the rural areas of the State and to provide an exposure to broaden their horizon, Sports & Youth Welfare Department, Assam has launched the Governor’s Girls Volleyball Mission under the guidance of Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi.

• 5,453 schools from across the State were selected by Education Department, Assam.

• Panchayat & Rural Development Department has been developing the volleyball courts in those schools. Till date, Volleyball courts of 4,612 schools in rural areas have been completed.

• Sports & Youth Welfare Department provided Volleyballs and Volleyball Nets to all the selected 5,453 schools along with training to the girl students.

• Intra-district competitions have already been conducted and Intra-zonal tournaments are being organized to select the best District team from 8 zones.

• 8 best teams from 33 districts will be brought to the State Headquarters for exposure visit and for inter-zonal, semi-finals & finals.

• Inter-zonal competitions & the semi final will be held at Sarusajai Sports Complex, Guwahati on 19th September, 2022.

• The final will be held at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium, R.G. Baruah Sports Complex, Ulubari, Guwahati-07 on 21st September, 2022.
