TMC to strengthen its foothold, Sushmita Dev inaugurates party office in Silchar

March 3: Severing her ties with the Indian National Congress Party in August 2021, Sushmita Dev registered herself as a member of the All India Trinamool Congress. She has also got a huge reward from the TMC as she successfully made her way to the Rajya Sabha from her new party. TMC has also in the recent past actively involved Ms Dev in election campaign in Tripura. A few days ago, TMC entrusted her the responsibility of strengthening the party in North East India.

Since her joining the TMC last year, many many from Cachar Congress have also left the party and joined TMC under the leadership of Sushmita Dev. However, the party was functioning without any formal office. Finally, on Thursday, Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev inaugurated an office of TMC at Park Road, Silchar. She asserted that the party office will serve as a space where brainstorming sessions can be held to strengthen the foothold of the party in Barak Valley. She was, however, quick to add that the main party office in the state will come up soon in Guwahati.

After the inauguration of the party office at Park Road, MP Sushmita Dev addressed party workers in a meeting organised at Rajiv Bhawan. The meeting was attended by large number of TMC supporters. Ms Dev expressed confidence that very soon the party would think of becoming a formidable force along with Congress and BJP in the valley and would also be contesting elections.
