Team Milap bringing smiles to the face of around 3000 flood affected families in Silchar

June 28: Like any other day, the people of Silchar were also living their regular life on the 20th of June, but who knew that the entire town would soon drown underwater within a few hours. No one was ready for the worst flood in the history of Northeast India.

This was when Sucharita Dhar, a young girl from Silchar came forward to create awareness about Assam flood on Instagram and that post got viral reaching 5.5 million views globally. Even top celebrities like Rajukumar Rao and influencers like Ashish Chanchalani shared her post. That led 4 change agents Rishika Mazumdar, Sucharita Dhar, Manisha Chetri & Harini Priya to start a fundraiser for Assam. Soon they saw a lot of people supporting their cause from across the globe.

The whole intention was to save Silchar and help as many people as possible, hence they collaborated with Abhishek Chakraborty & his LEO team, Sumit Das, Jhankar Paul, Karan Banik, Nabarun Dhar, Team Shantica and Dhaga volunteers so that they can save more lives on the ground.

Soon they became the hope of the city. With many youths joining them as volunteers, these groups of young souls named themselves “Team Milap” and served around 3,000 families affected by the flood in 4 days. They are providing medicines, baby food, sanitary pads, essential food items (Rice, dal, soya, biscuits, cakes, bread, milk, tea leaves, and oil) and drinking water.

Silchar is struggling, but with all these efforts and help, Silchar would come back stronger.
