Teacher’s Day to be celebrated with reasonable restrictions: Himanta Biswa Sarma

August 21: The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has disrupted almost every aspect of life. However, amidst this, the state government has taken a decision to celebrate Teacher’s Day on 5 September. Addressing the press, State Education Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state level programme on Teacher’s Day will be held in Guwahati. he, however, mentioned that it will be a low-key affair as only 150 guests (teachers) will be invited over there.

As regards celebration of Teacher’s Day in the districts, the minister said that every district of Assam will also observe the day by organising a programme by the respective Deputy Commissioners, wherein a maximum of 50 teachers can be invited. Eminent teachers will also be honoured during the day. He further cautioned that social distancing and other Covid protocol should have to be followed during the programme.
