Task Force formed by DC Cachar undertake cleaning of drains in Silchar
March 15: Barnali Sarma, Deputy Commissioner Cachar had constituted a task force on 5 March to tackle the upcoming water logging issues/ storm water & fresh flood issues through the clearing of the drains of Silchar town and natural canals.
In this connection, Deputy Commissioner entrusted executive magistrates & circle officers to carry out the work. Aditi Nunisa ALRS who will be looking after the ward 1 to 7. K.Changsen ACS , executive magistrate & Assistant Commissioner is entrusted to look after the work of ward number 8 to16. Navanita Hazarika ACS, executive magistrate and Assistant Commissioner will be in charge of ward number 15 to 21. Bikash Chetri ALRS , Executive magistrate and circle officer Sonai will look after ward from 22 to 28. The officers from PWD (NH), Teritorial Road Divsion, Water Resource Department, Silchar Municipality Board along with police, paramilitary force will also be a part of the task force.
The work was started on 12 March, 2020 wherein the drains near Narsing Higher Secondary School, Main Post Office junction point opposite to Cachar Zila Parishad upto Drugs Corner, Itkhola were cleaned by the Task Force. The work was monitored under District Development Commissioner and executive officer, Silchar Municipality Board, Jessica Lalsim and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Cachar and CEO (DDMA) Rajib Roy.
