Task force constituted in Hailakandi to check harmful chemicals used in fruits, sweets

April 20: Following complaints of harmful chemicals being used in fruits and in making sweets, a five-member district level task has been constituted by the district administration here on Tuesday. In an order issued to this effect, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Food, Civil Supplies and Corporate Affairs said the administration has formed the task force to look into complaints received from members of the public that some unscrupulous businessmen are using harmful chemicals in fruits and in preparing sweets, including jelebi.

Besides, visiting the fruit and sweetmeat shops of the district, the task force will also visit the groceries at Sirajpatty and Gastola areas to check the price of potato. The task force will submit action taken report to Deputy Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal. The task force comprises Executive Magistrate cum Assistant Commissioner, Raghuraj Baidya, Inspectors, BC Deka, Gautam Chakraborty, Mun Paul, all from Food, Civil Supplies and Corporate Affairs and Food Safety Officer.
