Sushmita will definitely win the Silchar Lok Sabha seat: Harish Rawat

April 16: Sushmita Dev is definitely going to have the last smile at Silchar. She is a capable leader and the people of Cachar is certainly going to elect her for the second consecutive term. This was asserted by Harish Rawat, General Secretary of All India Congress Committee in a Press Conference at Indira Bhavan, Silchar on Tuesday.

Harish Rawat said that if Congress comes to power, than those living below the poverty line will be given monthly financial aid as declared by the party President Rahul Gandhi. He also said that his party is determined to make Silchar a trade hub. As regards Cachar Paper Mill, Rawat expressed the view that if his party forms government at the centre than the mill will definitely be revived. Rawat also assured that his party will stand besides the agriculturalists and waive off their loans.

He further expressed the view that the way Silchar has come out to join the rally of Priyanka Gandhi speaks volume of the mood of the electorate. The massive crowd during Priyanka’s rally is an indication that Congress is definitely going to retain the prestigious Silchar seat.

Also present during the press meet were APCC Spokesperson Deepan Dewanjee, Chairman of Congress Media Cell Partha Ranjan Chakraborty, District Congress President Pradip Dey, former Municipal Chairperson Tamal Kanti Banik and others.

Earlier in the day, floral tributes were paid in the portrait of late state minister Dinesh Prasad Goala at Indira Bhavan on the occasion of his death anniversary. Present there were Congress candidate Sushmita Dev and other party leaders.
