Deputy SP Cachar summons 6 Mizoram officials including DC & SP of Kolasib to Dholai PS

July 30: In a latest development, Kalyan Kumar Das, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cachar has summoned six top officials of Mizoram Government to appear at Dholai Police Station at 11 AM on 2 August, 2021 in connection with the brutal killing of Assam Police jawans and unleashing violence at Lailapur in Assam- Mizoram border on 26 July.

The notification by the DSP, Cachar further stated that ‘a reasonable and credible information has been received that you have committed the alleged cognizable offence.’ The direction was issued in exercise of powers conferred u/s 41A of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.

The six officials summoned by Assam Police are:

  • Dr H. Lalthlangliana, MCS, Deputy Commissioner, Kolasib district
  • Vanlalfaka Ralte, MPS, Superintendent of Police, Kolasib district
  • David JB, MPS, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kolasib district
  • C Lalrempuia, MCS, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Vairangte
  • Bruce Kibby, MPS, Additional Superintendent of Police, 1st Indian Reserve Battalion
  • Thartea Hrangchal, MPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Vairangte

Infact, a case was registered on Tuesday at Dholai PS (Case No 236/21) under sections 120(B), 447, 336, 379, 333, 307, 302 IPC read with Section 25 (1-A) of Arms Act and Section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public property Act 1984 against the killing of Assam Police personnel on 26 July.

Earlier, GP Singh, Special DGP of Assam Police in a series of tweets announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to arrest of each of the individuals involved in the barbaric killing of the Assam Police personnel on July 26, 2021. The incident took place at Inner Line Reserve Forest area of Cachar district, Assam along National Highway 306, around 1.7 Kms southwards from Lailapur Police Station in which 6 policemen died till now, while around 40 more policemen sustained bullet injuries including the Superintendent of Police of Cachar.
