Students of eight Kendriya Vidyalayas showcase cultural bond between Assam and MP

way2barak, August 20 : The Kendriya Vidyalaya, Silchar, came alive on Monday with vibrant colours of culture, music and art as the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (Silchar region) hosted the cluster-level celebration of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB). With Assam paired with Madhya Pradesh this year, the event became a melting pot of traditions, creativity and national integration, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across eight Kendriya Vidyalayas under the Silchar cluster.
The occasion witnessed spirited performances as children showcased their exceptional talent through group dances, melodious musical recitals, an impressive handicraft exhibition and a lively on-the-spot painting competition. Each performance reflected the underlying theme of unity in diversity, highlighting how India’s cultural plurality continues to remain its strongest bond.
Chief Guest on the occasion , Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav in his address, praised the young performers for their vibrant presentations. He said, “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat is not just a cultural programme but a mission to strengthen national integration. When children from different states come together and learn each other’s traditions, languages and art forms, they become ambassadors of unity. Such programmes instil respect, harmony and pride in our shared heritage. I truly appreciate the Kendriya Vidyalayas for nurturing this spirit in their students.” He also urged the students to embrace diversity as a source of strength and to apply the values of tolerance, discipline and respect in their future journeys.
Adding to the encouragement, P.I.T. Raja, Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Silchar Region, called the initiative a vital platform for cultural learning. He said, “Children today are not only gaining academic excellence but also building character through exposure to India’s linguistic and cultural diversity. Assam and Madhya Pradesh, though geographically distant, share an invisible bond through history, folklore and traditions. These events create a bridge that makes young minds realise that despite differences, we are one India.” He congratulated the participating schools and teachers for their dedicated efforts in preparing the students.
Special guest A.K. Seet, Assistant Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Silchar Region, also highlighted the role of Kendriya Vidyalayas in nation building. In his address ,he said “The Kendriya Vidyalaya family has always emphasised holistic education. Programmes like EBSB are designed to give children a sense of pride in India’s unity while appreciating regional diversity. The students’ performances here reflect their creativity, confidence and cultural awareness. They are the true custodians of our national values.” He further encouraged students to not only showcase culture but also learn to respect the traditions of their peers, which will foster lifelong friendships and empathy.
Cluster coordinator Sunil Gupta and host principal Kishore Kumar Pandey took a keen interest in interacting with the students, particularly with the Scouts & Guides and Cubs & Bulbuls contingents, appreciating their disciplined participation and team spirit. Both highlighted that the event was not merely a competition but an opportunity to celebrate the shared spirit of belonging to a culturally rich nation.
The day-long celebration at KV Silchar thus not only turned into a vibrant display of art and talent but also stood as a reminder of the collective identity that binds the nation together. The cheers, applause and cultural hues inside the school campus echoed the very motto of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat strengthening unity through diversity.
