Popular character Nattu Kaka of ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ dies of cancer on 3 Oct

Oct. 3: Popular actor Ghanshyam Nayak, who plays the role of Nattu Kaka in “Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” (TMKOC) passed away on Sunday due to cancer. He was 77. Last year in September, the senior actor had developed a lump on his neck, for which he underwent successful surgery. Earlier this year, during a scan, Ghanshyam Nayak was diagnosed with some spots on his neck. Post which, he has been undergoing chemotherapy.
Producer of TMKOC, Asit Kumarr Modi confirmed the news on social media and wrote, “Our beloved Nattu Kaka is no longer with us.” Nayak was battling cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. He was also shooting for the show on and off while undergoing treatment for his condition. In one of his last interviews, Ghanshyam had asserted that he wanted to shoot till his last breath and had absolutely no problem in learning and delivering dialogues.

Nattu Kaka was one of the most interesting characters of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Ghanashyam Nayak is famously known for playing the role of Natwarlal Prabhashankar Undhaiwala AKA Nattu Kaka in TMKOC. He was loved by the audience for his superb comic timing and chemistry with Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) and Bagga (Tanmay Vekeria).
“I want to work till my last breath of my life and would like to die with my makeup on. I’m eagerly waiting to get back to work,” said the veteran actor during a recent interview with a television channel.
He appeared in nearly 100 Hindi and Gujarati films, apart from featuring on more than 300 TV serials. He is survived by his wife and three children.
