Assam Univ seeks opinion of Principals as regards conduct of remaining TDC exams through online mode

May 11: Assam Government has already notified that all educational institutions in the state along with coaching centres and hostels shall remain closed in the state from 6 May onwards until further notice. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education, Govt of India has also asked the Higher Education Institutions of the country to keep the offline examinations in abeyance during May. 2021. It is in this backdrop that Assam University, Silchar has also postponed the ongoing TDC Odd semester offline examinations.

However, on 11 May, 2021, Dr. S.Dutta Roy Controller of Examinations (COE), Assam University issued a notification wherein all Principals of the affiliated colleges under Assam University were requested to furnish their views on or before 15 May, 2021 via email on whether remaining examinations can be conducted through online mode.

Further, the notification of the COE also stated, “All Principals of the affiliated colleges are also requested to arrange and make available online classes for eligible TDC (CBCS) Even Semesters students with immediate effect for the larger interest of students till offline classes are resumed so as to enable us to conduct their even Semester examination in time.”

In this connection, it needs mention here that UGC in its letter addressed to all Vice Chancellors and College Principals on 6 May, 2021 wrote, “Keeping in view the current scenario of COVID-19, it is requested that Higher Education Institutions may keep the offline examinations in abeyance during May. 2021… However, for conduct of online examinations. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) may decide suitably after assessing local conditions and ensuring that they are prepared in all respects following advisories/guidelines/directions issued by the Central/State Government. Ministry of Education, or UGC from time to time to prevent spread of COVID-19 and for the safety and health of all stakeholders. The situation may be re-looked by the HEIs during next month (June) for taking appropriate decision in this regard.”
