State govt employees now to get pension on day of retirement as part of ‘Kritagyata’ scheme

September 25: It was indeed a matter of great pain and harassment for the state government employees to get their monthly pension after retiring from service. The employees were made to run from pillar to post to get their pension papers ready. Sometimes it took around 2 to 3 years after superannuation to get the pension. But thanks to the initiative of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. He instructed the Pension and Public Grievances department to ensure the receipt of pension by the state government employees on the same day of retirement.

In a review meeting held at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati, the progress of works of Pension and Public Grievances Department was taken stock of by the Chief Minister. CM Sonowal directed the officials to develop an online pension sanction & payment tracking system named ‘Kritagyata’, encompassing every department of Government of Assam. Sonowal said, “Employees would get the true respect they deserve if they could receive the pension on time after serving for so long.”

The web-based scheme ‘Kritagyata’ would enable the state government employees to submit their documents online in the last year before their retirement. The employees thus would be able to receive pension on the day of retirement through this web based scheme named ‘Kritagyata’. Sonowal urged the department to create an online portal connecting the CMO, all ministers’ offices along with DC offices so that the grievances could be sent to departments concerned at the earliest.

Minister for Pension and Public Grievances department Phani Bhushan Choudhury, additional chief Secretary of the department V.S Bhaskar along with the top officials of the department were present in the meeting.
