State Education Minister extends best wishes to newly appointed VC of Assam University
Jan. 16: State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu on Sunday extended best wishes to the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Assam University. Taking to his twitter handle, Dr Pegu wrote, “Congratulations and best wishes to Prof Rajive Mohan Pant, the new vice chancellor of Assam University, Silchar. I hope the university will achieve new heights during your tenure.”
Ending months of speculation, Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar. He will be replacing Prof Dilip Chandra Nath as the new VC. Prof. Dilip Chandra Nath, Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar whose term expired on 15 May, 2021 has been asked by the Ministry of Education to continue in office notwithstanding the expiry of the tenure till his successor is appointed and enters upon office or till further orders, whichever is earlier. With the appointment of Prof. Pant, Assam University will get its 1st non-Bengali Vice Chancellor.
Dr Rajive Mohan Pant is an expert on Organizational Development and Change Management, Rural Development, Marketing of Rural products and services, Policy on Indian Himalayan Region. He is presently working as a Professor at the Centre for Management Studies (CMS) in North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Arunachal Pradesh since 2005.
It was learnt that Dr Pant will be assuming charge very soon. Assam University, which has been in the eye of a storm due to poor NAAC ranking needs to elevate its position. It’s only wait and watch for the people of the valley to see whether the new Vice Chancellor is able to lead the varsity to achieve its desired goal.
