State Congress demands fresh examination for APDCL recruitment
April 29: Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati on Monday, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) spokesman Durga Das Boro demanded that fresh examination be conducted for appointment in the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) held on Sunday as the question papers of the examination were leaked. The APDCL conducted written examination for appointment in the posts of grade III and grade IV.
Debabrata Saikia, Leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly said, “Since the examination process was marked by leakage of questions on social media, unfettered use of mobile phones by certain candidates and even credible reports of some candidates being provided with the answers beforehand, the government should go for organizing the examination afresh.” Referring to arrest of two invigilators and one examinee over the leak of question paper, Saikia said that this indicates that the examination process was not clean.
On Sunday, as many as 2 lakh 35 thousand students appeared for the written examination conducted by APDCL in almost all districts of Assam. The said exam began at 10 AM. Inspite of all precautions and strict security, the question paper of the exam was reportedly leaked on social media on Sunday minutes after students began writing the examination.
Debabrata Saikia urged upon Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal to conduct a fresh examination for vacant posts under the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), in view of serious irregularities marring the written examination which was held on Sunday.
