Spurious liquor: Death toll crosses 143, Parimal visits Golaghat

February 25: Assam hooch tragedy is taking ugly turn day by day. After every few minutes, the death toll is increasing. As per sources, the situation is little better as many patients have been released from hospital after treatment.

Sources informed that as of now, 143 people lost their lives consuming spurious liquor, out of which 85 died in Golaghat and 50 in Jorhat.

State Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya visited Golaghat, earlier today to take stock of the situation. He was, however, greeted with Go Back slogans at various points. Earlier the Congress demanded the resignation of Parimal Suklabaidya and CM Sarbananda Sonowal.
