Mizoram, on Tuesday, recorded the highest-ever single day spike in COVID-19 cases

Sept. 14: There has been a significant rise in the number of Covid positive cases in Mizoram since the last few days. What is more worrying is the fact that everyday, large number of children are also found to be positive. This has indeed increased the tension of neighbouring Cachar district of Assam as there are chances that the virus may soon spread here also. It is in this backdrop that the National Health Mission, Cachar has come up with new directives.

In an order issued by NHM Cachar, it was stated that the people of Mizoram are coming to Assam by road and there are possibilities of cross infection. In view of the high positivity rate in Mizoram, fresh restrictions were imposed in the villages bordering Assam and Mizoram. The passengers entering into Assam by road transport shall undergo testing as per Covid-19 protocol to control the spread of the disease.

Hence, mandatory Covid test of all passengers coming from Mizoram will be done at few strategic locations in and around Lailapur which falls under Dholai BPHC. Further, arrangements will be made by the Cachar health department hospitalisation of Covid positive patients at Palonghat Model Hospital and Kachudaram Model Hospital. Medical teams will be deployed there with sufficient number of doctors, health workers and medicines.
