Similarity in name lands “negative” Raja Sir of Ramanuj in problemনামের মিলে কোভিট-সঙ্কটে রামানুজের রাজা স্যার
July 13: Shakespeare said, What’s in a name?” “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” is a popular reference to William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, in which Juliet seems to argue that it does not matter that Romeo is from her family’s rival house of Montague, that is, that he is named “Montague”. But here in Silchar, similar names of two college teachers “Raja” has landed one of them in problem. Out of the two persons, named, “Raja”, one is COVID positive, while the other is COVID negative.
On Sunday, an Assistant Professor in the Department of English of Radhamadhab College, Arunabha Bhattacharjee tested COVID-19 positive and was admitted at SM Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar. Mr. Arunabha is famous among the student circle by his nick name ‘Raja’. He is more popularly known as ‘Raja Sir.’ Now this has landed another teacher of Ramanuj Gupta College in great problem.
Raja Gupta, Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics of Ramanuj Gupta Junior College is also popular among his students as ‘Raja Sir.’ Now, the similarity in names of these two “Raja Sir” has landed the students and acquaintances in great confusion.
After Rudra Narayan Gupta, Director of Ramanuj Gupta Memorial Trust trust tested positive last week, all the teachers and staff of Ramanuj Gupta did COVID test. Raja Sir (Raja Gupta) also went for COVID RTPCR test on 6 July and was tested negative. Though negative, he was put under 14 days home quarantine till 14 July.
Speaking to way2barak, Raja Sir (Raja Gupta of Ramanuj) said, “The students and many of my acquaintances have become confused by the same name which I share with Mr. Arunabha Bhattacharjee. Many of my students, relatives and friends are calling me thinking that I have been tested positive. I want to say to all my well-wishers that by the grace of God, I am COVID negative. I would request all not to worry and I am fine. At the same time, I also wish that Arunabha Bhattacharjee Sir gets well soon.”
