Silghat-Kolkata Express flagged off by MOS Rajen Gohain

January 2: A new train named 13182 Silghat-Kolkata Express from Silghat in Nagaon district to Kolkata was flagged off by Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain on Tuesday. This is a weekly train and the route of the new train is: Silghat-Nagaon- Senchoa- Chapormukh- Guwahati -New Bongaigaon- New Jalpaiguri – Malda Town-Kolkata. Meanwhile, the Silghat station has been upgraded in a massive way making it a new terminal for the Railways.

Speaking during the occasion, Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain said that the new weekly Silghat-Kolkata Express train would improve trade and commerce in central Assam, besides benefitting tourists to Kaziranga as the train will have stoppages at Amoni and Jakhalabandha. The minister also said that a Delhi-bound train and a south-bound train will also be considered for introduction from Silghat soon.

The new train will start its journey on January 7 from Silghat at around 12.30 pm every Tuesday and it will reach Kolkata around 12.50 pm the next day. The train on its return journey will leave Kolkata on Monday at 9.05 am and will reach Silghat at around 9.55 am on Tuesday.
