Silchar DDIPR Indrani Goswami & staff distribute food items
April 9: Due to nationwide lockdown, the country is passing through a critical phase. On one hand, many daily wage earners are devoid of job and income and on the other security personnel, health department, media and other departments dealing with essential public service are working round the clock ignoring personal risk. The state government has appealed to government employees to stand besides the needy. It is in this backdrop that the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations (DDIPR) of Barak Valley Zone, Indrani Goswami came forward along with her staff in helping people at this hour of national crisis.
DDIPR Goswami and her dedicated band of employees distributed essential commodities along with vegetables to 50 poor and needy persons. Apart from this, she also distributed cold drinks and chips to the on-duty security personnel. She was personally present and spearheaded this unique move.
Later on, while speaking to newsmen, DDIPR Indrani Goswami said, “The outbreak of coronavirus in the country followed by 21-days lockdown has brought in miseries for a major chunk of the populace who are mainly daily wage earners. We government employees are privileged to have a stable flow of our salary Thus, out of social commitment, we came forward to help those who are in need at this hour. We have tried to bring smile in the face of some of the underprivileged in our own little way.”
