১২ সেপ্টেম্বর : ভগবান গণেশ জীবনের সব বাধা দূর করে ভরিয়ে দেবেন সুখ স্বাচ্ছন্দ্যে।প্রতিটি পরিবারে শান্তি সমৃদ্ধির এক নতুন যাত্রা সূচিত হবে। গণেশ চতুর্থীর পুণ্যলগ্নে আত্মীয়, বন্ধু ও প্রিয়জনদের উদ্দেশে এই বার্তা পাঠান মানুষ। বিশ্বাস, এই দিনেই জন্মগ্রহণ করেছিলেন ভগবান গণেশ।

কয়েক বছর আগেও বরাক উপত্যকায় ঘটা করে গণেশ চতুর্থী পালনের তেমন রেওয়াজ ছিল না। কিন্তু গত ৮-১০ বছর ধরে বারোয়ারি মণ্ডপেও শুরু হয়েছে গণেশ বন্দনা। শিলচরে ইদানীং বেশ কয়েকটি মণ্ডপে পুজোর আয়োজন হচ্ছে। এ অবশ্যই এক শুভ দিনের বার্তাবাহী।
বুধবার শিলচর শহরের বহু মণ্ডপে ঢাক বাদ্য এবং কাসর-ঘণ্টা সহযোগে গণেশ প্রতিমা নিয়ে আসা হয়েছে। শোভাযাত্রায় অংশ নেন প্রচুর সংখ্যক পুরুষ মহিলা। মণ্ডপগুলোকে আলোর মালায় সাজিয়ে তোলা হয়।

শিলচর সঞ্জয় মার্কেটে ত্রিধারা যুব সংঘের গণেশ চতুর্থী আয়োজন এ বার অষ্টম বর্ষে পা দিয়েছে। বুধবার সন্ধ্যায় ভগবান গণেশকে আরতি করে তিন দিনব্যাপী পুজোর সূচনা করেন শিলচর রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের সম্পাদক স্বামী গণধীশানন্দজি মহারাজ। আয়োজকদের পক্ষ থেকে বলা হয়েছে, মণ্ডপে প্রতিদিন সন্ধ্যায় থাকবে সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান। তাছাড়া থাকবে প্রসাদ বিতরণ। উদ্যোক্তারা জানান, ১৬ সেপ্টেম্বর প্রশাসনের নিয়ম মেনে প্রতিমা বিসর্জন করা হবে। এই পুজোর অতিরিক্ত শিলচর প্রেমতলা ও হাইলাকান্দি রোডেও গণেশ চতুর্থী উপলক্ষে বিশাল আয়োজন করা হয়েছে।

September 12: Ganesh Chaturthi also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi is one of the important Hindu festivals celebrated throughout India with a great devotion. This day is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesh, the elephant-headed son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Lord Ganesh is the symbol of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. The festival celebrates Lord Ganesha as the God of New Beginnings and the Remover of Obstacles as well as the God of wisdom and intelligence.

Even a few years ago, the tradition of performing Ganesh Chaturthi in Barak Valley was not in vogue. But since the last 8 to 10 years, Ganesh puja is performed at Silchar at public venues. Local Mandapa or Pandal’s in the town are usually funded either from donations by local residents or hosted by businesses or community organizations. In preparation for the festival, artisans create clay models of Ganesha. On Wednesday, many idols of Lord Ganesha were brought to the pandals along with band party and a long queue of devotees could be seen. The colourful lighting added splendor to the puja pandals.

The Ganesh Chaturthi organized by ‘Tridhara Yuva Sangha’ at Silchar Sanjay Market has stepped in the eighth year. On Wednesday evening, celebration of the 3 day long Ganesh Chaturthi by ‘Tridhara Yuva Sangha’ began with ‘aarti’ of Ganapati by the Secretary of Silchar Ramakrishna Mission Swami Ganadhisananda Maharaj. The organizers of this puja have informed that cultural programmes will be organized every evening in the puja pandal. ‘Prasad’ will also be distributed among the devotees. They further informed that on September 16, the idol of Ganesha will be immersed by obeying the rules framed by the district administration. Apart from this puja, Ganesh Chaturthi is also observed at Premtola and Hailakandi road.
