Prof. Pranay Jyoti Goswami of Assam University passes away

April 22: Prof. Pranay Jyoti Goswami, Head of the Department of Commerce of Assam University breathed his last on Monday early morning. As per his family sources, it was learnt that he was not keeping well since last few days. On last Saturday, the doctors advised him to take admission in hospital. He was admitted at Mediland Nursing Home, Itkhola on Sunday. His condition started to deteriorate and on Sunday evening he was admitted in ICU.

However, he suffered a major cardiac arrest there and was declared dead by the doctors at around 3.15 AM on Monday. He started his career as a teacher in a High School from where he became a Lecturer in the Department of Commerce, G.C. College, Silchar. Later on, he shifted to Assam University.

Prof. Goswami acquired specialisation in Banking, Entrepreneurship, Cooperation, Marketing, Applied Economics and Statistics. He has published quite a large number of papers in reputed journals. He was loved by the student as well as teaching community for his simplicity and soft-spoken nature. His death was mourned by the entire Assam University fraternity.
