1 more corona patient discharged, total 17 patients cured in Assam

April 19: Sunday seems to bring in ray of good hope for Assam. One more patient was discharged on Sunday. The patient from Kamrup Metro was admitted in Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH). He will now go in for 14 days home quarantine. Earlier during the day, 4 COVID-19 patients were discharged from  Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH), Guwahati. This takes the tally of total number of cured patient in Assam to 17. 

The released patient from GMCH is a resident of Spanish Garden in Guwahati. The Spanish Garden society was declared as a containment zone, where none was able to enter or exit. As such, the discharged patient was advised to stay in a hotel or stay in the guest facility of medical college. However, as hotels were not in a position to accommodate  guests at this juncture, so he will stay in the paid cabin of GMCH.

Taking to his twitter handle, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Another piece of good news. We discharged one more #COVID patient today after his 4 successive tests came out as negative. Manish Tiberwal of Kamrup was admitted in GMCH and now leaves for home quarantine. Glad that now the number of cured (17) exceeds active (16) cases.”

Earlier, on 15 April 2 persons were discharged from Sonapur Civil Hospital . Three COVID-19 patients were released from Goalpara Civil Hospital on 16 April. On 17 April, 4 persons were discharged from Golaghat Civil Hospital. Further on 18 April, another 2 persons were discharged from MMCH, Guwahati. 1 more corona positive patient was discharged from Silchar Medical College & Hospital on 18 April.

As of now, a total of 34 persons were tested coronavirus positive in Assam. Out of the 34 cases, 17 patients have recovered and were discharged and 1 patient died. At present, 16 patients are undergoing treatment in Assam. This means the number of cured patients in Assam has now exceeded the number of active patients.
