SEBA: IX Annual & X Test exams to be held after 15 November, said Nayan Jyoti Sharma

November 6: In pursuance of the Government order issued by the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Board of Secondary Education (SEBA), Assam has rescheduled Annual Examination of Class IX and Test Examination of Class X.

Speaking to way2barak on Tuesday afternoon, Nayan Jyoti Sharma, Controller of Examinations of SEBA told that, in the backdrop of the Panchayat Election Notification issued on 5 November, the Annual Examination of Class IX and Test Examination of Class X will be held after 15 November 2018. He said that detailed notification in this regard will be issued by SEBA very soon.

Meanwhile, the schools/district boards have been directed to conduct the said exams after 15 November and complete the same by this month. The Controller of Examinations further said that various confusing posts are doing the rounds in social media. He urged upon the student community not to get confused by the social media posts and rather be prepared to sit in the said examinations on or after 15 November.

It needs mention here that Assam State Election Commission, in a letter issued to Commissioner and Secretary of Education (Secondary & Elementary) on 29 October 2018, requested to reschedule the examinations after 15 December 2018 as many of the polling stations and also strong rooms and counting halls are located in schools and college buildings. On the basis of this, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Assam on 1 December 2018, urged upon the Board/Council/Universities within the state to reschedule their respective examinations after 15 December. It is in this backdrop that SEBA has decided to reschedule its Annual Examination of Class IX and Test Examination of Class X.

Meanwhile, there has been a confusion throughout the state regarding the rescheduled date of the Annual Examination of Class IX and Test Examination of Class X. The confusion has occurred primarily because a notification in the website of SEBA issued on 2 November states that the said exams ‘has been rescheduled from 17 December, 2018.’ In order to clarify the confusion, way2barak spoke again on Tuesday late evening with Nayan Jyoti Sharma, Controller of Examinations of SEBA. He reiterated what he said to us in the afternoon and said that examinations has been rescheduled from November and not from December. When asked about the notification displayed in the website of SEBA, Nayan Jyoti Sharma said “This is by mistake and we will soon remove it from our website. The exams have been rescheduled after 15 November.”

Meanwhile, Assam State Election Commission on 5 December 2018 has announced the schedule for the state panchayat elections which will be held in two phases next month. Panchayat Election in Assam will be held in 2 phases on December 5 and December 9, in a total of 26 districts, including 14 civil sub-divisions. The results of the election will be declared on 12 December 2018.
