Phased manner Covid vaccination drive begins on Friday in rural areas of Cachar

June 18: In view of Covid-19 pandemic and to contain the further spread of the virus, a week-long vaccination drive in Silchar urban area was undertaken in the 1st part of June, 2021. A total of 49,267 persons were vaccinated in Silchar in this special drive. After this successful vaccination drive in urban areas, the Cachar district administration has now taken in hand the proposal of administering vaccine in the urban areas of Cachar district from 18 June, 2021 in a phased manner.

The Gaon Panchayat-wise wise mega vaccination campaign is being taken up across all 8 medical blocks in Cachar district with walk in registration facility for all people above 18 years of age. Mobile teams are also visiting the GPs for maximum coverage. Appealing to the rural populace, Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar requested more and more people to avail this opportunity and make this endeavour a grand success. The rural vaccination drive was inaugurated on Friday by the Deputy Commissioner at 649 No. Madripar LP School at Badri-Chadrapur GP under Harinagar Block PHC. The beneficiaries were asked to carry an identity card to avail the vaccine doses.

Informing this, the district administration stated that a maximum of 250 persons will be vaccinated in each rural centre during this special drive. This drive will be undertaken in 8 BLock PHC’s covering 29 GPs. A vaccination plan for 18 June has already been prepared for this purpose. It was further informed that other Gaon Panchayats will also be covered in subsequent days and schedule will be posted accordingly.

The inauguration programme of GP level COVID vaccine at Khunow LPSchool Fulertal under Lakhipur BPHC was undertaken by Kaushik Roy- MLA Lakhipur. The formal inauguration of GP level vaccination at Borkhola was done at Bangarpar GP under Bikrampur Block PHC. Inauguration of GP-wise vaccination programme at Kalain HS School took place in the presence of Khalil Uddin Majumder, MLA, Katigorah, Circle Officer Katigorah, Principal of the school and other health staff. The GP wise vaccination at Dayapore TE /GP under Udharbondh PHC was done by MLA Mihir Kanti Shome. Inauguration at Bidyaratanpur PHC under Rajnagar GP was done by Sudip Nath- Circle Officer Sonai and MLA representative. In a bid to quickly cover vulnerable areas, vaccination camp is being taken up in Sonai Town by Executive Officer Bikash Chetri and Sonai SDMHO and Health team along with MLA Sonai representative at Mazirgram ward.
