Rumi Nath expelled from primary membership of Congress for anti-party activities

Oct. 9: Dr. Rumi Nath, ex-MLA of Borkhola was expelled from the primary membership of Indian National Congress for six years for her gross anti-party activities. On Friday, an order to this effect was issued by Ranjan Bora, General Secretary (Organisation) of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC).

The order issued by Ranjan Bora stated, “Seen and perused the complain of BCC President Salchapra, BCC President Borkhola. Head of Frontal Organisations of the Salchapra and Borkhola BCC and some other prominent Congress Workers from Borkhola LAC and also perused the letter of DCC President Cachar dated 04-07-2020 regarding anti-party activity of Dr. Rumi Nath, Ex-MLA Borkhola LAC.”

Accordingly, show cause letter was issued to Dr. Rumi Nath on 21 August, 2020 as to why disciplinary action be not taken against her for her very serious anti party activity of hobnobbing with BJP. APCC stated, “Also seen and perused the reply of the show cause letter by Dr. Rumi Nath dated 28-08-2020. The show cause reply was found not at all satisfactory. Her reply to deny the charges is not at all sufficient to substantiate her claim. As such Shri Ripun Bora, MP, Hon’ble President, APCC has approved the expulsion of Dr. Rumi Nath. Ex-MLA from the Primary Membership of Indian National Congress for six (6) years for her gross anti-party activities. This has come into force with immediate effect.”
