Rotary Greenland honours its founder Harris by reaching out to underprivileged children

January 27: Paul Percy Harris (1868-1947), a lawyer, was the founder of Rotary, the world’s first and most international service club. Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, promote high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build good will and peace in the world. Paul Harris passed away on 27 January 1947.

To commemorate the death anniversary of its founder, Rotary Club of GreenLand Silchar (District 3240) reached out to the unprivileged children of Silchar. Members of the Club on Sunday distributed old and new clothes among the underprivileged children of the town from Rotary Greenland permanent Child Cloth Bank.

Speaking during the occasion, President of Rotary Club of GreenLand Silchar, Madhumita Paul said that the the programme was organised as a mark of tribute to their founder Paul Percy Harris. She said that the programme was organised under ‘Save Girl child Campaign.’ The club members handed over the clothes to the children and their parents.
