Rotary Club of Hailakandi felicitates Media Heroes

July 31: As part of the “Media Heroes” project of Rotary District 3240, Rotary Club of Hailakandi on Saturday felicitated the journalists, news editors and office bearers of press club. During the day, 20 media personalities were given the honour by the club abiding Covid protocols. They were felicitated with a citation, uttoriyo and a memento. Apart from this, the editors of media houses from other districts were provided certificates of honour.

The “Media Heroes” ceremony on 31 July was presided over by Kanhaiya Sarda, President of Rotary Club of Hailakandi. The welcome address was delivered by PRO of the club, Sanjoy Bhowmik. The objective of the programme was highlighted by IPP & Image Chairman Shankar Choudhury.

While elaborating the objective, Shankar Choudhury said, “During the pandemic, all wings of media, print, electronic and web based have rendered yeomen services to the society. Today’s programme is an attempt on our part to recognise your services.” President of the club, Kanhaiya Sarda said, “I express deep gratitude to the press for their contribution. You all have toiled hard to make news available to the people.” They also informed that  during the celebration of Press Day, many other journalists will be felicitated.

Relevant speeches were delivered by President of Press Club- Naimul Islam choudhury, Nilotpol Deb and Bibhuti Chakraborty. All of them praised the social activities done by the Rotary Club. Former President of Rotary Club, PK Majumder, Pritikona Paul, Bivabhushan Chakraborty, Anup Kumar Ghosh, Siddhartha Sankar Das, Kamal Hussain Choudhury and others graced the occasion. The vote of thanks was delivered by Secretary of Rotary club of Hailakandi, Bijoyini Bhattacharjee.
