Assam University invites application for admission in Ph.D programme

Nov. 27: Online applications in prescribed form are invited for admission to the Ph. D. programme in Assam University, Silchar headquarter and Diphu Campus for the academic session 2021-22. For details candidates may visit university website www.aus.ac.in

Eligibility Criteria: The following shall be the eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. program under Assam University:

1.1) Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate, or its equivalent grade or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized, by an authority established, recognised or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country empowered for assessing. accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

1.2) A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) / differently able and other categories of candidates as per decision of the Government of India (G01) from time to time or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility of marks of 55% (or equivalent grade in a point scale) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based on the qualifying marks without including the grace marks.

1.3) Candidates shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to Ph.D. degree in an integrated programme in the University, if
(i) the candidate has cleared an M.Phil. Course work in the same subject with at least 55 % marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade from the University as per AUS Ordinance on M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in force.
OR
(ii) the candidate has already completed the course work in M.Phil. in the same subject as per the AUS Ordinance on M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in force with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the AUS grading scale and successfully completed M.Phil. degree in the same subject.

A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the GOI from time to time.

1.4) Candidates seeking admission against OBC (Non-creamy layer) quota must submit valid income certificate in support of his/ her belonging to OBC (NCL) category, from the appropriate authority.

1.5) A student of Assam University, whose M.Phil. Dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending, may be admitted to the Ph.D. programme of the University. A Certificate of completion of evaluation of dissertation obtained from the COE should be produced before the DRC by the candidate at the time of Personal Interview.

1.6) Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to the M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established, recognized or incorporated by law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country empowered for assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme.

How to Apply:

Candidates may apply online on payment of Rs. 700.00 (for General and OBC students), Rs. 600.00 (for OBC (NCL)/ EWS) and Rs. 500.00 (for SC/ST/PWD students) through e-chalan/online as application fee. The web link for the purpose is https//www.ausexamination.ac.in/admission and shall remain active on the University Admission portal till 05.12.2021. Interested candidate may apply up to a maximum of two courses only for Ph. D. Programme offered by the Departments. For the purpose, separate application should be submitted for each course with requisite application fees.

* Departments may conduct online test if situation warrants with due approval of the authority.
*Reservation of seats for admission in respect of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PWD/ EWS candidates will be made as per GOI rules. Appropriate certificate must be submitted from the designated authority.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The University does not ensure Non-NET fellowship to all intending claimants (fresh entrants). This is subject to availability of fund received from UGC. In view of constraint of fund, if any, Non-NET fellowship shall be awarded to the selected candidates on merit basis on the recommendation by the concerned Department.
