Rice to tea garden workers, fish, vegetables, seeds at doorstep amid lockdown in Hailakandi
April 28: 544 quintals of rice under the Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) have been allotted to tea garden workers of five tea estates of Hailakandi district for the month of April.
Of the 544 quintals, 100 quintals each have been allotted to Vernerpur, Rupacherra and Lalacherra tea estates, while 200 quintals to Lalamookh and 44 quintals to Kunchanpore tea gardens. The district administration has asked the tea garden authorities to deposit the amount within three days. It has directed the labour officer to ensure that the tea gardens lift the rice allotted under OMSS(D) and make proper distribution to the workers.
2,551 kgs of fish have been sold out from different distribution points for door-to-door delivery covering 3,011 families on Tuesday. Altogether 16,310.4 kgs of fish have been sold so far. Vegetable seeds have been distributed to farmers and SHGs at their doorstep by KVK, Hailakandi. 50 metric tonnes of vegetables and 15 metric tonnes of fruits were delivered door-to-door on Tuesday.
