Relaxation in Covid curfew to be announced district wise from 15 June depending on positivity rate: CM

June 10: “The districts which will perform better will get more relaxations. It will be more on a scientific pattern. It will not be like opening or relaxing all restrictions together in the entire state,” said Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday in Guwahti. The mini lockdown imposed in Assam will get eased district wise. He further said, “Assam is the only state in the country which has been engaged in the fight against Covid-19 by not declaring complete lockdown. We sought to strike a balance between life and livelihood by declaring mini lockdown,” said the Chief Minister.

He, however, said that Assam would have seen much less positivity if the state had declared complete lockdown. But the Chief Ministeer said that keeping in mind the ground reality, the state government kept open the shops, markets etc for some few hours in the morning. “But keeping livelihood moving ahead, we did the Covid management in the state and was able to win the fight to a considerable extent. We have maintained a balance while taking decision of Covid curfew in the state. It is my firm belief that from this month onwards, we may get some relief as because the number of fresh cases of coronavirus is gradually decreasing,” said the Chief Minister.
