Registrar & Deputy Registrar of Dibrugarh Univ suspended over allegations of financial irregularities

Feb. 4: In a recent development, the Registrar and Deputy Registrar of Dibrugarh University were suspended over serious allegations of financial irregularities. An official release undersigned by the varsity’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Ranjit Tamuli read that registrar Dr Hari Kumar Mahanta and deputy registrar (F&A) Dr Diganta Borah have been suspended with immediate effect. The decision was taken by the executive council of the varsity.

Since the last few days, massive protests by the students of the university against alleged mismanagement, misuse of the position of the office and financial irregularities was going on. 

Meanwhile, on written demand of Dibrugarh University Teachers’ Association (DUTA), Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi ordered for a four-member fact-finding committee to inquire into the alleged financial irregularities involving the Dibrugarh University Vice-Chancellor.
