Rajen Gohain’s rape case trial to start from Wednesday
November 20: A case of “rape and sexual exploitation” was registered against Union Minister of state for Railways Rajen Gohain on August 1, however, the incident came to light on August 10. Since then, there has been a great uproar in the political circle. As per police, the complainant has named herself and her sister as victims in the FIR. The woman has reportedly accused Gohain of raping under the pretext of giving jobs in the ministry.
The trail of the case No 2592/18 registered under IPC Sections 417, 376 and 506 will begin from Wednesday in Nagaon court. This was ordered by the Nagaon District and Sessions Judge Court of Sangeeta Gogoi on Tuesday.
A veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Gohain has been representing the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency in Assam since 1999. Gohain’s son Nabarun Gohain has filed a cross FIR alleging that the woman and her family were trying to blackmail the Minister and the rape allegation is part of a conspiracy.
