Quarantine centre at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Kamrup converted into 250-bed Covid Hospital

June 27: The COVID-19 situation in Guwahati has become a major cause of concern for the state government. On Friday alone, out of the total 273 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the state, 203 are from Guwahati. The state total has now reached 6919, out of which, 2660 are active cases. In the backdrop of rapid increase in COVID-19 positive patients, state government has decided to impose a complete lockdown from June 28 midnight for the next 14 days in Kamrup Metropolitan district.

It is in this backdrop that a quarantine centre is being converted into a 250-bed Covid Hospital at Patanjali Yogpeeth, Mirza, Palashbari to accommodate the new patients. On Saturday, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma visited this facility along with senior health officials today and reviewed all arrangements. In a tweet, Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “Our efforts to step up infrastructure for #COVID19 management continues.”
