Patients with various ailments are being brought back to Assam from Mumbai

May 8: After making arrangements for the return of the stranded cancer patients in Mumbai to Assam, the state government has is now bringing back patients with different ailments from Mumbai. They have also started their journey by bus. This was informed by State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma. the minister has even shared some photographs of the people after they commenced their journey by bus from Mumbai. The smiling faces inside the bus speaks volume of their joy of coming back to their home state. However, the pictures also testify the violation of social distancing norms as the people are seen to be in close proximity to each other inside the bus.

Taking to his twitter handle, Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Srama wrote, “Some patients with different ailments are being brought back to Assam from Mumbai. We shall ensure all public safety norms to guard against any potential risk that this may have. We deem it our duty to standby them & ensure best assistance. I request everyone to be rest assured.”

Meanwhile, in Assam, the number of positive cases has increased to 59. The bus in which some 40 plus passengers travelled from Ajmer Sharif in Rajasthan has now been in the eye of a storm. The bus came to Silchar on 6 April. Since then, till 8 May, a total of 10 persons were tested positive in Cachar district, who all were passengers of the ill-fated bus. However, the number of active cases in Assam stands at 24
