President Murmu awards Bal Puraskar to 17 exceptional children
New Delhi, December 26 : President Droupadi Murmu conferred the ‘Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar’ on 17 children for their exceptional achievements in seven categories in New Delhi today. The children, who hail from 14 states and union territories, were recognized for their accomplishments in Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Science and Technology, Social Service, Sports and Environment. Each awardee received a medal, a certificate, and a citation booklet.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, President Murmu paid homage to the bravery and sacrifice of the Sahibzadas on Veer Bal Diwas. She highlighted that this day is observed every year to honor the unparalleled sacrifice and courage of the younger sons of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh.
Congratulating the children who received awards, the President remarked that their work is extraordinary and astonishing. She emphasized that each of them possesses unparalleled qualities and that their achievements will inspire all the citizens of the nation. President Murmu also urged everyone to share these achievements on a large scale using different mediums to spread awareness among all citizens.
The President said that providing opportunities and recognising children’s talents has been a part of the country’s traditions. She emphasised that this tradition should be strengthened further. President Murmu said, in the year 2047 when the nation will celebrate the centenary of India’s independence, these award winners will be enlightened citizens of the country. She said such talented boys and girls will become the builders of a developed India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar awardees. Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar awardee in the field of Art and Culture Janane Narayanan from Tamil Nadu expressed happiness on receiving the award. Another awardee in the field of Sports, Jessy Raj from Andhra Pradesh said that every child should be engaed in extracuricular activities and parents should encourage them.
Sindhoora from Bengaluru who received award in the field of innovation advised youngsters to take advantage of all opportunities for building better future. Sanvi Sood from Punjab, who got award in the field of sports, expressed happiness on receiving the award. Risheek Kumar from Jammu, who received award in the field of Technology, said that this field offers several opportunities that can bring positive change in the country.
