President Kovind meets his counterpart & PM in Bangladesh, discusses issues of mutual interest

Dec. 16: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh called on President Ram Nath Kovind in Dhaka on Wednesday. Both leaders discussed several issues of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation between India and Bangladesh. Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind visited Bangabandhu Memorial Museum and paid his respects to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In a special gesture, the President was received by President Abdul Hamid of Bangladesh. The President is on 3-day visit to Bangladesh. President Ram Nath Kobind will be accompanied by the Minister of State for Education Dr Subhas Sarkar and Member of Parliament (MP) from Silchar, Dr. Rajdeep Roy.

President Ram Nath Kovind held delegation level talks with President Abdul Hamid of Bangladesh. Both leaders discussed wide ranging issues of interest for both the countries, including connectivity and trade, cooperation in fight against Covid-19 and development partnerships. Dr A.K. Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, also called on President Ram Nath Kovind in Dhaka. Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind visited National Martyrs’ Memorial, Savar and paid tributes to the martyrs of the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

The President will participate in the special celebrations of Mujib Shato Borsho and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s Liberation. This is the first state visit of the President since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
