Pre-Independence-Day Celebration takes place at NIT Silchar in virtual mode
August 14: On the eve of 74th Independence Day, NIT Silchar observed Pre-Independence Day on 14th August 2020 in Virtual Mode. Two eminent guests Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MP, Silchar and Dr. Doel Biswas Roy, Doctor and writer were present. The function started with a talk by Director of NIT Silchar, Prof. Sivaji Bandyopadhyay.
In his welcome address, Prof. Bandyopadhyay narrated how India become self-resilient in fighting against Covid and produced many essential medical components in the country. He also expressed the philosophical stand of this great nation by reverberating “Vasudeva Kutumbakam”. Prof. Bandyopadhyay informed about the contribution of NIT Silchar in Research and Development in present scenario. He told about the recent achievement to establish Technology Incubation Hub (TIH) at NIT Silchar in collaboration with IIIT Delhi in the field of Cyber Physical Systems. He also acknowledged the contribution made by doctors, nurses and other front line warriors fighting against Covid-19 pandemic.
The Chief Guest Dr. Rajdeep Roy spoke about the five pillars of self-resilient India and deliberated in details on various aspects of achieving the dream. In his address, Dr. Roy briefly narrated various schemes of Government of India related self-resilient movement and stated that the schemes are going to benefit millions of Indian citizen to be independent in all sectors such as education, MSME, enterprise, agriculture and health. He also spoke about signing a MoU with NIT Silchar for research and development.
Guest of Honour Dr. Doel Biswas Roy wished all the participants Happy Independence day and presented her self-written poems. The poems were about women empowerment and also reflected some social issues. She also presented a wonderful poem on love during corona pandemic. She urged upon the women to be educated and come forward for social upliftment.
The event witnessed various performances by the students of NIT Silchar from various parts of the country. Also faculty and their kids presented their performances on the occasion of Pre-Independence Day celebration. The event ended with vote of thanks proposed by Prof. R. D. Misra, Dean Student Welfare, NIT Silchar.
