Political Parties Can’t Release Manifestos At Last Minute: ECI

March 16: The Election Commission of India on Saturday has categorically stated that Political parties cannot release their poll manifestos in the 48 hours leading up to the voting day.

In this connection, an amendment to the Model Code of Conduct – is done keeping with Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act-1951, which provides for “election silence” during this period.

Earlier during the 2014 Lok Sabha Election, the BJP had released its manifesto on voting day during the first phase of the previous Lok Sabha elections.
