PMAY(U) Cup 2021 held under Fit India Movement in Hailakandi
Jan. 27: Under Fit India Movement, a PMAY-U Cup 2021 cricket tournament was organised at the District Sports Association Ground here on Wednesday. Sponsored by Project Director PMAY (U), the tournament saw two teams namely Hailakandi Municipal Board and Lala Municipal Board vying for the top spot with the former clinching the match by 7 wickets.
District Development Commissioner, Ranadeep Kumar Laskar gave away the trophies to the champion and the runner-up in the presence of Project Director, PMAY(U), Jyotirmoy Daimary, Executive Officer, Hailakandi Municipal Board, Deepmala Goala and City Project Manager, NULM, Mahbubur Rahman Parvez Laskar.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, DDC, Laskar said games and sports play a pivotal role in building camaraderie and bonhomie and keep oneself fit and healthy.
Laskar said he would take up the matter with the directorate of sports and youth affairs to hold more games and sports in the district as ‘it is a great unifying force and a stress buster’. Project Director, PMAY (U), Daimary, who presided over the prize distribution function, underscored the importance of games and sports for both mental and physical well being.
Executive Officer, Hailakandi Municipal Board, Goala said just like games and sports help to instill sportsmanship spirit, different branches of an establishment must also work in tandem for better work culture and results.
City Project Manager, NULM, Laskar, in his address, requested the district administration to organise sporting activities with all the line departments to combat stress for better performance.
