Persons excluded from final NRC not to be declared foreigners

August 26: The process of updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Assam under the supervision of the Supreme Court of India will have its culmination on the last day of August, 2019. The final NRC will be declared on 31 August, 2019. Here are some important facts in connection with Final NRC:

• The Final NRC will be available for display at NSKs, Circle Offices, SDO (C) Office and DC Office and also in the NRC Website. Moreover, FLO/BLO will make the list available village wise.
• Those excluded from Final NRC will not be Declared Foreigners merely on the basis of exclusion from Final NRC.
• The persons left out from NRC will get adequate time (120 days) to time appeal before Foreigners’ Tribunal as per notification in due time.
• The Person left out from Final NRC will get assistance in terms of appealing before Foreigners’ Tribunal.
• There will be no criminal proceedings drawn on the basis of left out from Final NRC. No person will be arrested.
• There is absolutely no need to panic. No rights will be denied on the basis of left out from Final NRC.
