Out of the 5 deceased at Bhuban hill, none died due to traffic congestion: District administration

March 3: In an unfortunate incident, a total of 5 persons died enroute to Bhuban Hills during the Maha Shivrati this year. In an official communique issued by Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Assam on Thursday, it was stated that a total of five dead bodies were recovered from Bhuban Hill on 1 March, 2022. “All of the deceased are male and none have died due to the traffic jam at bend of Hatubhanga enroute to the pilgrimage site at Bhuban,” mentioned the communique issued by DDIPR.

DDIPR of Barak Valley Zone further stated, “Post Mortem reports of the deceased B Paul (31) and  A Ghatowar (35) revealed that their deaths were caused due to stroke. S Das (37) of Khelma who was with his family seemed to have been suffering with some disease. N Kurmi (52) who was found near a temporary hotel was stated by the hotel owner to be shivering and soon succumbed to his ailment. S Chakraborthy (55) seemed to have slipped on his way to the temple.”

DDIPR, Barak Valley Zone further stated, “It is again requested to public that there is better road connectivity on Krishnapur side and devotees are requested to use it to avoid any chance of accidents.”

Meanwhile, expressing their views, some of the journalists advised the district administration to introduce registration of Bhuban Hill devotees in future so that details of them could be discerned immediately. This would also allow the administration to keep a track of those who climbs the risky terrain during Shiv Ratri festival.
