The gateway of information has opened. The Barak based web portal www.way2barak.com has been formally launched by Jyotilal Choudhury, eminent journalist and former teacher of Cachar College on Sunday by clicking the mouse. In the inaugural ceremony, which took place in the 1^st floor of Madhya Sahor Sanskritik Samiti, eminent citizens of the town were present. Intellectuals from various walks of life, such as, journalism, politics, culture, sports, government administration, private sector gave a huge round of applaud and welcomed this venture. The portal is bilingual and is available both in Bengali and English.

Jyotilal Choudhury was hopeful that such an initiative will definitely open the gateway of information. On behalf of the management of the web portal, Pannalal Bhattacharjee said that the portal will stand by the administration for dissemination of any information. He mentioned that in this era of globalization, dissemination of information from every nook and corner of the globe is expected. It is in this backdrop that Team “Way2barak” would act as a catalyst of providing information on a gamut of subjects. He expressed the birth of this web portal has got two main objectives-the craving of the heart to do something meaningful and to spread the happenings of this valley to the outer world. Later on Mr. Bhattacharjee gave a presentation of the technical aspects of the portal.

The entire inaugural ceremony was weaved in a single thread by Joydeep Biswas. Instead of lengthy lectures, he took reactions from the esteemed citizens present over there, which further added to the glamour of the programme. All present lauded this effort of team way2barak and hoped that the portal will go a long way in dissemination of information. Former MLA Dipak Bhattacharjee, Taimur Raja Choudhury, Nilotpal Choudhury, Bikramjit Baulia, Arindam Gupta assured to stay beside this endeavour as a friend, philosopher and guide.

The organizers informed that as different rivers ultimately merge with the ocean, similarly the singular aim of team way2barak is to keep the readers updated about various happenings all around. Their main motto is to become a “Gateway of Information.” Their coverage would include updates primarily from the three districts of Barak Valley (Cachar, Karimganj & Hailakandi) along with regional, national and international updates. They would also be sharing featured stories on various contemporary issues and thereby play the role of a catalyst in moulding public opinion. The site available in both web & app versions would also encourage the readers to write their own column on issues close to their heart.
