Number rises again; 2509 tests +ve in Assam on Friday

Sept. 18: On Friday, the number of novel coronavirus cases in Assam increased once again. During the day, 2509 new positive cases were reported in the state. With this, the state tally of COVID-19 cases have now gone upto 1,52,858, out of which, 30,706 are active cases. 36,027 tests were done on Friday. In a tweet, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ 2509 #COVID cases detected today out of 36027 tests. Positivity Rate- 6.96% Kamrup M- 541; Lakhimpur- 207; Golaghat- 197; Jorhat- 162.”

Further, during the day, 12 more persons succumbed to COVID-19, thereby taking the death toll of the state to 540.
