NSS Unit of G.C. College conducts awareness campaign against tobacco consumption
May 21: National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of G.C. College, Silchar organised a tobacco control campaign at Subhas Nagar Primary School, Silchar on Tuesday. The volunteers of NSS explained to the people about the evil effects of tobacco consumption and urged upon them to refrain from such destructive things.
Around 105 students of the school were sensitised during the awareness campaign. The campaign was organised as a part of the ‘Pledge for Life’ programme of the group. A pledge was also taken by the NSS Unit wherein they said that they would stay miles apart from tobacco consumption.
While speaking to way2barak, Subhasish Choudhury, Tobacco Control Leader from GC college, NSS unit said, “Our team is working on a mission ‘pledge for life’ along with Sambadh Foundation to reduce the effect of tobacco in the society. We have also conducted similar campaign in Niranjan Paul Institute and sensitised over 270 students there”
