JEE proxy scam: Kakoli Buzarbarua, Councilor of coaching centre sent to 7-day judicial custody

Nov. 5: Kakoli Buzarbaruah, Councilor of Global Edu Light coaching institute was remanded to 7-day judicial custody on Thursday by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court after 5 days of police custody. She was arrested on 30 October from Guwahati’s Rupnagar in connection with the JEE proxy scam in Assam.

Assam Police on Monday arrested Bhargav Deka, the prime accused in the JEE Exam Scam. Deka is  the owner of Guwahati-based coaching institute Global Edu Light. So far, 8 persons have been arrested in connection with the JEE proxy scam, including the candidate, his father, two TCS employees and an invigilator.

Those arrested till now are Bhargav Deka, Dr. Jyotirmoy Das, Neel Nakhatra Das, Hemendra Nath Sarma, Pranjal Kalita and Hirukamal Pathak and Kakoli Bezbaruah. As per sources, the investigation is on and some more names may come out to be involved in the scam.
