Nostalgic Himanta, shares picture with Tarun Gogoi after his 1st Assembly election victory

Nov. 25: Days passes, yet memories stay back. On a similar note, senior BJP leader and Assam cabinet minister, once a trusted lieutenant of Tarun Gogoi became nostalgic at the demise of his previous mentor. The veteran Congress leader and former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi died on Monday and would be cremated on Thursday.

Going down the memory lane, Himanta Biswa Sarma found one one his old picture with Tarun Gogoi. He tweeted the picture with the caption, “In 2001. After my first election victory from Jalukbari LAC. # TributeToTarunGogoi.”

In another tweet on the day of Tarun Gogoi’s demise, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “A man of grand vision & extraordinary passion, Sri Tarun Gogoi was an intensely people’s man, focused on progress & enjoyed support of all . I was lucky to have worked under him. He rescued Assam from a period of darkness & led it for 15 yrs ensuring a new phase of development.”
