Door-to-door mega vaccination drive to take place in Cachar from 8 to 12 October

Restrictions may be imposed on entry to public places for those who are unvaccinated

Oct. 7,: With the objective to prevent the further spread of Covid-19 especially during the Durga Puja festival, the Cachar District Administration has decided to carry out a door-to-door mega vaccination drive from October 8-12.

As part of the drive, the team which will be in charge of the jab will vaccinate elderly persons and bed-ridden people as well. The families of bed-ridden persons have been advised to contact with their nearby government health institutions to avail vaccination facilities. This was decided at a meeting held in Silchar on Thursday.

Presiding over the meeting, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli instructed health officials to work for the vaccination drive untill and unless all the persons in the district are given the Covid jab. The Deputy Commissioner stressed on the importance of mass vaccination as even a single person (who is not vaccinated) is capable of spreading the infection.

It was informed in the meeting that as per the ASDMA guidelines, puja pandals were asked to follow the protocols. As decided by Govt, possible restrictions may also be imposed for persons who have not taken vaccine regarding entry into banks, market places, petrol pumps and shopping malls / complexes among others and access to Govt services.

In the meeting, people have been urged to come forward for vaccination. Even if anyone suffers from influenza or fever, he or she should come forward for vaccination because that person may be the carrier of the “deadly” virus. Pregnant women and lactating mothers may also be vaccinated as advised by Govt of India. There are still pockets where people haven’t taken the jab thinking they will take later. The meeting resolved to cover all unvaccinated people as found in the door to door survey, which was attended by senior officials of the health department.
