NGO Udoy-er Pothe distributes left over food from ceremonies among the poor

May 7: He alone is worshipping God, who serves all beings. This is a famous saying of the great Swami Vivekananda. He further went on to say, “Where can we go to find GOD if we cannot see him in ours own hearts and in every living being.” True to the saying of Vivekananda, a NGO named, Udoy-er Pothe did a wonderful task of distributing food among the poor and needy.

On Monday evening, there was the rice ceremony (অন্নপ্রাশন) of a kid Krishanu, the son of Kamalendu Deb Purkayastha and Tamanna Shome Purkayastha. However, it was found that a large quantity of food was left over as the expected number of guests did not turn up. Kamalendu Deb informed this to the members of Udoy-er Pothe. They after collaborating with Kamalendu Deb decided to take away the left over food and distribute it among the poor.

Once decided, the youth brigade of Udoy-er Pothe set out on their noble mission at night. They distributed the food mainly in Tarapur area of Silchar. The members of the NGO expressed happiness for being able to help the needy. They also expressed gratitude to the Purakaystha family for taking such a good decision instead of wasting the excess food.

In a social media post, the members of Udoy-er Pothe appealed to the citizens of the town to follow the example set by the Purkayastha family. They made a humble appeal not to waste food especially cooked during any ceremonies. They urged upon the people to stand by the needy by contributing left over food, if any, and thereby serve humanity.
