NGO Sporsho-Touch the Animals makes shelter home for stray animals at Meherpur

Nov. 16: A unique initiative was undertaken by NGO ‘Sporsho-Touch the Animals.’ On Sunday, they formally inaugurated a shelter home for stray animals at Meherpur, Silchar. Former Ward Commissioner and Silchar Town Congress President Sajal Banik inaugurated the shelter home along with Dr. Monoronjon Sarkar of Sichar Veterinary Hospital and Shila Basak, owner of the premises.

On behalf of Sporsho-Touch the Animals, it was informed that the shelter home was built for the stray animals and birds who get injured and are left unattended on the streets. The NGO also made arrangements for proper treatment of such animals.

Speaking during the occasion, Dr. Monoronjon Sarkar lauded the efforts of ‘Sporsho-Touch the Animals.’  The members of the NGO urged upon the people to drive their vehicles carefully so that no animals get hurt. Further, they also requested the people to contact them if any stray animals lie injured on the streets. This NGO started functioning in the year 2018. Speaking about this endeavour, social activist Pallabita Sharma said, “The animals can’t speak but they can feel pleasure and pain similar to that of human beings. It therefore is the responsibility of human beings to take care of animals who are injured and are in need of hep.”
