NGO ABEG celebrates International Women’s Day in a befitting manner
March 8: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, NGO ABEG felicitated large number of working women. At the outset, the members of ABEG went to Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Silchar where they felicitated the Principal, Vice Principal, teachers and staff of the school. Their next destination was Women’s College, Silchar where they felicitated and female college teachers and staff. Finally, the members of ABEG reached Silchar Bar Association and felicitated the female lawyers.
Present during the occasion were former President of ABEG Nabarup Dutta, former Municipal Chairperson and member of ABEG- Tamal Kanti Banik, Bikramjit Baulia, Samir among others. A number of female members of ABEG were also present during the felicitation ceremony in the three venues.
Speaking during the occasion, Nabarup Dutta highlighted the importance of the observation of International Women’s Day. In his speech, Tamal Kanti Banik said, “The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #ChooseToChallenge. It indicates that a challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change. International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women, who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.
